The 8200-1302 is one of several Woodward 505 digital governors available to control steam turbines. The operator control panel acts as a graphical interface and keyboard, allowing the turbine to be adjusted and communicated with. This can be configured via a Modbus communication port located on the device.
The 8200-1302 has a variety of functions available:
Automatic start sequence for hot start and cold start, with temperature input option
Critical speed evasion in the three-speed band
10 external alarm inputs
10 external DI trip inputs
Trip indication with associated RTC time stamps and alarm events
Dual speed and load dynamics
Peak speed indication of overspeed trip
Zero speed detection
Long range voltage drop
Frequency dead zone
The unit also offers three normal operating modes, including configuration, operation and calibration modes.
The device includes two redundant speed inputs and can accept a magnetic pickup device, eddy current probe, or proximity probe. It has analog inputs (8) and can be configured for any of the 27 functions. The device also has an additional 20 contact inputs. The first four of these contacts are used by default to turn off, raise speed setpoints, reset, and lower speed setpoints. Others can be configured as needed. In addition, the unit has two 4-20 mA control outputs and eight Form-C relay contact outputs.
The front panel of the 8200-1302 includes an emergency trip key, a backspace/delete key, a shift key, as well as the view, Mode, ESC, and Home keys. It also has navigation cross keys, soft key commands, and four leds to correlate the state of the control and hardware.
